In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, businesses heavily rely on IT to operate efficiently and stay competitive. However, implementing IT solutions without fully understanding the underlying business needs can lead to costly mistakes— wasted resources and time, failed projects, and unmet expectations.

This is where Business Analysis comes in. It provides a structured approach to understanding business needs, analyzing them, and then designing technology-driven solutions that deliver real value. In IT projects, Business Analysis ensures alignment between what the business wants to achieve and what the IT team builds.

Let’s consider a real-world example to illustrate this point:

Imagine you go to an optometrist because you're having trouble seeing clearly. Instead of conducting a proper examination to understand your specific issue, the optometrist simply hands you their own glasses, saying, "These work perfectly for me, so they should work for you too." As you put them on, you realize that they don't help at all—in fact, they make your vision worse. This scenario sounds absurd, but it's surprisingly common in the world of IT and software development.

*Business Analysis in IT is very much like being a good optometrist.*

It involves understanding the unique needs, problems, and goals of a business before proposing or developing a solution. Just as one pair of glasses doesn't fit everyone, one software solution will not suit every business. A solution that works well for one company may be entirely useless—or even harmful—for another. Without a thorough analysis, it's impossible to know what the business truly needs.
